Delvaux Le Poirier shoulderbag cognac leather

SKU: 5396
  • Very good condition
Delvaux Le Poirier shoulder bag in cognac leather. Grained leather, two wide shoulder straps and a front flap held shut by the gold D buckle. Delvaux opened in Brussels in 1829, one year before Belgium itself existed. That makes the house eight years older than Hermès and twenty-five years older than Louis Vuitton, and in 1908 it filed one of the earliest handbag patents on record. Delvaux named several of its bags after trees: Le Pin, Le Marronnier and this one, Le Poirier, the pear tree. We think a cognac bag with no logo, only a D, is the most grown-up flex in Belgian fashion. Older than Belgium. Better than most.

Every piece is authenticated before it gets a price tag. No exceptions, and no “authenticated” label on some pieces but not others.

Buying pre-loved is the most sustainable way to wear luxury, though we’d be lying if we said that’s why most people walk in. They come for the bag Louis Vuitton stopped making years ago. The planet benefits anyway.

Not everything that comes through our door ends up on this page. We look at construction, condition and whether we’d wear it ourselves. We say no more often than people expect.

We ship worldwide, packed by hand in our Antwerp boutique. Everything here is one of a kind, and sitting in your cart doesn’t hold it. Rather see it in person first? Come by Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm, or Sunday, 11am to 5pm, and ask for it by name.
