Dries Van Noten lace-up heels in black suede. Thin laces up the front, a glossy black patent toe cap and a high, glossy block heel. In March 1986 Dries Van Noten and the other young designers from the Antwerp Academy loaded their collections into a rented van and drove to London for the British Designer Show. They almost did not make it, because they lost the keys to the van. The British press could not pronounce their names, so they called them the Antwerp Six, and the name stuck. Three years later Dries opened Het Modepaleis, his flagship in Antwerp. We think every Antwerp wardrobe needs at least one Dries, and a black suede lace-up is the smartest place to start.
