A documented runway piece from Anna Molinari’s Fall/Winter 2003 collection, shown in Milan as look 20. The collection was designed by Rossella Tarabini, daughter of the house’s founder. That season she looked back to the 1960s and Jane Birkin, playing girlish innocence against quiet seduction. She worked in featherlight silks and a hushed palette of lilac, beige and champagne.
This camisole is the collection in miniature. It has a softly ruched bust panel finished with a fine band beneath, and slender straps that continue as delicate piping down the front to the hem. The body is sheer, weightless silk and floats away from the figure. On the runway it was styled as a lingerie-inspired set. Today it layers just as beautifully over a slip, a bralette or a fine knit.
An early-2000s piece from the Blumarine family’s most celebrated era.
